Article 90 of the consolidated value-added-tax law, last updated on the official gazette page on 28 February 2026, says the tax is charged at the general rate of 21 percent, except where the next article says otherwise. Value-added tax is the tax on most goods and services.

Royal Decree 241/2026 prints the 2026 minimum for a contributory retirement pension. A holder aged 65 with no spouse, counted as a one-person household, is listed at 13,106.80 euros a year. Economic effects run from 1 January 2026.
